We can go after a variety of fish; however, the most common are halibut and salmon.
Halibut are a flat fish which feed off the bottom of the ocean. They are more elongated than most flat fish and have both eyes on their dark, upper side. Their underside is lighter. They eat a large variety of fishes and invertebrates such as crab and shrimp. They generally stay on the bottom, but will occasionally leave the bottom to feed on pelagic fish.
See the chart below for the best times to plan your trip.
Alaska has King (Chinook), Silver (Coho), Pink (Humpback or Humpy), Red (Sockeye) and Chum (Dog) salmon. On Kodiak Island we have King, Silver and Red in large numbers. You will be able to experience the thrill of fighting a large King, Silver or Red during your stay with us. These are not all year around fish and the following chart will show the best time for you to plan your visit with us, according to what you want.
