The waters surrounding Port Lions are filled with a variety of fish; however, the most common are halibut and salmon.

Halibut
Halibut are a flat fish which feed off the bottom of the ocean.  They are more elongated than most flat fish and have both eyes on their dark, upper side.  Their underside is lighter.  They eat a large variety of fishes and invertebrates such as crab and shrimp.  They generally stay on the bottom, but will occasionally leave the bottom to feed on pelagic fish.

Salmon
Alaska has King (Chinook), Silver (Coho), Pink (Humpback or Humpy), Red (Sockeye) and Chum (Dog) salmon.  On Kodiak Island there are King, Silver and Red in large numbers.  You will be able to experience the thrill of fighting a large King, Silver or Red during your stay with us.
